The just concluded Miss Africa Lugansk 2012 which took place on the 8th of December 2012 was a huge success. The event this year was supported by several top international companies such as Coca-Cola, Turkish Airlines, and several others. There is no doubt that AfroArts Group, the organizers of the event did a remarkable job to make the event bigger and better.

During an interview with LOT TV a day before the event, the representatives of the event said “the only way to reach out to the Ukrainians is to showcase what we Africans have and if there is anything that comes first to the minds of people that can actually attract people, the first things are women and beauty”.It was further explained that the parameters for judging the contestants will be the fundamentals of an African woman which are confidence, determination, good heart and ability to make people happy.

The event featured not only African talents but also talents from other parts of the world including Ukraine. It was indeed reaching out to not only Ukrainians,but the world. ForeignUkraine24 was overwhelmed to find out that the event does not stop right there in the hall but continues every day in the heart of the organizers with visits to the less privileged homes. This kind gesture started during the event with gifts being lavished on the less privileged. A representative of the AfroArts group told ForeignUkriane24, “It is our own way of giving back to the community“.

After considering all fundamentals of the African Woman, a winner was selected. Queen Esther Kekong from the Calabar tribe in Nigeria emerged as winner. The crown was immediately passed on from the outgoing Queen, Queen Lilian Mumbua from Kenya to the new Queen Esther Kekong. It is expected of Queen Esther Kekong to visit less privileged homes during her tenure as the outgoing Queen Lilian Mumbua did.

All of the contestants went home with full hands. Aside from the numerous gifts from the sponsors, the AfroArts group also showered gifts on all the contestants. Some of the gifts are flight ticket, souvenirs from Coca-Cola, free fitness club vouchers and lots more.
